Welcome Ranger Fans!!!
This is my tribute page to the New York Rangers. It's
not as extensive as some of the other
Rangers sites I've seen out there, but it's a
start! Feel free to drop me a line
with any ideas
or suggestions for improvement of these pages, the content, or the site layout.
Or just to chat about the Blueshirts. Or to Flyer-bash. As for some tickets
to home Ranger games, I will post them in my Ticket Information section along
with instructions on how to get them.
Enjoy the page, and LET'S GO RANGERS!!!

Yeah me, standing
at the red line on Garden ice.....Yeah me, behind the wheel of the MSG Zamboni.
With the trade deadline looming next week, the Rangers have been mentioned
in all sorts of wacky speculation. Get a load of some of these claims:
-OTTAWA SUN: Reports rumors of the New York Rangers dealing
talented but tempermental winger Theo Fleury by March 19th. Apparently, LA Kings
GM Dave Taylor is a fan of Fleury's gritty on-ice style, but the pesky little
forward would have to waive his no-trade clause for this to happen.
-Reports on the potential returns for the Florida Panthers in a trade for forward
Pavel Bure by the deadline...it's believed that the asking price from the Rangers
could be "(Mike) York and a defenseman."
-EDMONTON SUN: Reports are that defenseman Tom Poti's days as an Edmonton Oiler
could soon be at an end. Speculation has Oilers GM Kevin Lowe talking to his
counterparts in New York and Pittsburgh about a possible trade. It's believed
Lowe is interested in either Mike York or Radek Dvorak from the Rangers. The
reporter gets into trade speculation, suggesting Lowe package Poti and struggling
forward Jochen Hecht to the Rangers for York and promising young defenceman
Tomas Kloucek.
-NEW YORK POST: Reports the Oilers are in talks with the Rangers, Bruins and
Penguins regarding Tom Poti. It is believed Lowe "may be willing to take (Radek)Dvorak
and Bryan Berard or (Mike)Mottau for the puck-moving defenseman and either Mike
Grier or Todd Marchant."
-FT. LAUDERDALE SUN-SENTINEL: Reports are that "sources" are saying the Florida
Panthers are shopping Pavel Bure to the New York Rangers, hoping for a return
of "Petr Nedved or Michael York, Radek Dvorak and young defenseman Mike Mottau."
It's been noted that there may be substantiation to the New York Post's report
yesterday of Bure being unhappy in Florida
-Blues shipping Fred Brathwaite, Tyson Nash and a prospect to the Rangers for
Mike Richter.
-BOSTON GLOBE: Reports Washington Capitals forward Jaromir Jagr is available
for any team who wants to take on his huge contract. The New York Rangers might
be interested, as they pursued a trade for Jagr with the Penguins last summer.
-NEW YORK POST: Report claims the Florida Panthers have offered Bure to the
New York Rangers. Citing " one of our best snitches", the reporter states the
Panthers have made two offers to the Rangers, which New York GM Glen Sather
has rejected, as the return was for "at least three of the organization's brightest
young players." Apparently, Slats doesn't want to commit that much money for
Bure, when he can pick up a cheaper free agent like Guerin, Amonte or Bobby
Holik this summer.
- ESPN:Will Lindros turn it on again, will he ever be able to play at full tilt?
Those are some of the questions GM Glen Sather must address at the trade deadline.
If he doesn't think so, then it becomes more likely the Rangers try to make
a deal for a players such as Pavel Bure from Florida, or maybe Paul Kariya from
the Ducks. What you also remember here is to note who the Rangers have some
interest in at the deadline. Only rarely do the Rangers fail to get their man,
and that means that if they send out feelers for Kariya or Bure in the next
week, they will also be chasing them over the summer. And Mike Richter. Still
seems likely the Blues are the biggest bidder, with a goalie back to New York
in return.
Ya gotta love the little guy who wasn't supposed to make it, but does it all! Comes to play every night, and shows grit, determination, skill, passion, antagonism, great goal celebrations, and has that unpredictable flair for getting a little wacky from time to time. We're all big Fleury fans upstairs in the cheap seats...ROCK ON, LITTLE MAN!!!
THE FLEURY SEASON IN REVIEW (through
67 games):

ANTICS: The mid-ice Chicken Dance ridiculing Eric Cairns of the Islanders; pulling himself from the game and going to sit on the team bus to cool down after getting 3 straight bad calls on penalties; flipping off Islander fans after scoring the game winner; beating up and breaking a rib of 'Sharkie', the San Jose Sharks mascot; ripping Cairns' stick from his hand, skating it to the bench, and stomping it to pieces; flipping out and needing to be tackled by a linesman for trying to protect a teammate from a third man in situation; firing a puck into the boards and teeing off on the refs after a blown call; various instances of challenging opposing players and colorfully disagreeing with calls. |
